Tips for Finding the Right Cycling Bicycle

Many differing options are available to you as you look to purchase a bicycle. Even for those people who are paid to ride, buying a new bike is hard. The fact of the matter is that getting a bike involves many different choices. Imagine the future: how safe, comfy and stylish do you need the bike to be. How far will you ride and where will you be riding? Choosing between all of the options available can be overwhelming, especially since new developments in cycling happen all the time. Opting for the correct bike for you is as easy as using these simple criteria.

One of the major parts of choosing the right cycling bicycle for you is making sure that the bicycle is the right size. For this you must calculate your inseam. This is accomplished by measuring from your groin to your foot down the inside of your leg. Ideally you should be able to place both feet on the ground while on your bike. This is mainly for safety and will allow you to use your feet to stop the bike without the brakes if needed.

If you intend to get a road bike then take 9" away from your total inseam. This is to account for the size of tires you will use on a road bike. Designed for cycling around the city road bike tires are thin. For a internet mountain bike take away 12 inches from your inseam. Again this is to account for the size of tires. Mountain bike tires will be thick and designed for mountainous terrain. Mountain bikes can travel on city pavement but that is not what they are designed to do.

How many gears will you use on a regular basis? Traveling through flat areas requires far less gears than riding in a mountainous area. You can’t evaluate the bike only by the number of gears it has. Sometimes bike riders don’t ever use all the gears on their bike. Don’t spend money on something you won’t use. Of course, if your cycling bicycle is going to be your primary mode of transportation you might need to make sure you have enough gears to handle rough situations. You need to consider several things when choosing your bicycle for the first time. Do you want to ride your bicycle every day or do you see yourself only riding it once in a while? Which height of bike is the most comfortable fit for you? Would you rather be able to put your feet flat on the ground or would you rather have that few inches between your feet and the ground when you are sitting down? All of these factors will come into play as you make your choice.
